Lathe of the Land formed in Santa Cruz California as a passion project. In 2018 a hobby of woodworking and an admiration for gemstones became a profession. Each jewelry piece is made by hand, so every ring is unique and one of a kind. At Lathe of the Land we strive to make high quality jewelry at an affordable price. All jewelry is made locally on site in Santa Cruz.
Ring Policies and Information
*Bentwood Rings*
Our rings are made using the bentwood technique which is the wrapping of wooden veneer sheets tightly around itself and then being glued into place. The bentwood method aligns the wood grain making the ring stronger than other wood rings. The ring is then carefully shaped by hand and a channel is carved into the ring where the inlay is set. A multi-layer finish of cyanoacrylate is then applied to protect the ring. Finally wax is applied to the ring to help protect and add an extra shine.
*Tungsten Carbide Rings*
Our Tungsten carbide rings are made out of top quality materials that are built to last. Tungsten Carbide is one of the strongest metals used in jewelry and is very durable and scratch resistant. Tungsten Carbide is also hypoallergenic so you wont have to worry about any allergic reaction to the ring, as well as not having to worry about oxidation or tarnishing over time.
*Shipping*
Each ring is handmade once the order is placed. Shipping times can vary based on volume of current orders. If you are under time constraints for your ring contact us to see if we can work something out. Average You can expect your ring to arrive 7 to 14 days from ordering.
*Care Tips*
Wooden rings with the right care can last for a long time, but due to the fact that they are made from a soft material they cannot withstand the same amount of abuse that a metal ring can. Prolonged exposure to water will weaken the protective coating of the ring, occasional hand washing and showering will not effect the ring, but over long periods of time the finish will wear off. Avoid chemicals while wearing the ring and their life will be greatly extended. Remove your wooden ring before working with tools that can compress your ring. The finish of the ring can be re-applied and the ring will look brand new, contact us for re-finishing options.
*Returns and Exchanges*
Returns and exchanges are excepted for ONLY wooden rings. For our tungsten carbide and metal ring core rings we offer exchanges for the cost of materials.(usually around $20) Customized rings cannot be returned or exchanged.
The price of return shipping will be your responsibility. Please make sure to know your ring size when placing an order.
